Join Jack in a discussion about the funding landscape and what it means to raise funding in Michigan. From crowdfunding to traditional venture capital funding, it is important to know the basics. Guest Speaker, Jack Miner currently, focuses on business formation around physical sciences intellectual property for the tech transfer office at the University of Michigan. Prior to joining U of M, he worked for 7 venture-backed software companies (most of which exited through acquisition) as well as Fortune 100 information technology organizations, CA and Amdahl. Most recently, Jack has been engaged in new business formation through bcVentures, Michigan Aerospace Corporation and TechTown, spending the last 2 years focused on capital attraction for over 200 portfolio companies.
Jack helped establish the Center for Entrepreneurship in Calhoun County, founded an online business acceleration platform and has helped commercialize defense related sensor technologies, life science devices, clean energy and numerous software businesses. Jack holds a B.A. in Economics from the University of Michigan and an MBA from Northwestern University’s Kellogg Graduate School of Management.
